I should have titled my blog "Reluctant Blogger". If I had only known! I am amazed how much information I have accumulated and how many new ideas I've been exposed to. I've learned a few new tricks and that's saying a lot.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-1078979123686771082008-04-28T12:11:00.000-07:002008-04-28T12:24:41.798-07:00Thing 22Here I am supposed to resolve to keep up with Web 2.0 and Library 2.0. I'm sure that would be a wise resolution, but I'm resolving to go back and try to figure out where I went wrong with some of the first 23. If nothing else, I am persistant and will keep trying to resolve my video addition problem. Maybe I will continue to blog, but at this point, I will not make much of a vlogger.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-17457241241039046972008-04-28T08:41:00.001-07:002008-04-28T12:17:21.628-07:00Thing 21<a href="http://www.blogger.com/<embed%20src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="networkUrl=http%3A%2F%2F23thingsonastick.ning.com%2F&panel=network_small&configXmlUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.ning.com%2F23thingsonastick%2Finstances%2Fmain%2Fembeddable%2Fbadge-config.xml%3Ft%3D1209205496" height="104" width="206" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" bgcolor="#ffffff" wmode="transparent" salign="lt" scale="noscale" quality="high" v="'3.1.2%3A4415" allowscriptaccess="always">

So I'm stuck for now and will try to move on to Thing 21. I finally got my confirmation and now I am on Facebook. Being the coward that I am, I limited my privacy as much as possible. I joined a crocheting group as I have been busily creating baby items in various colors for my newly-pregnant daughter. I enjoyed looking at the library My Space sites. They were a bit more exciting than our "home page", but I think most of the information is similar. If our library wants to "jazz up" our homepage, I hope they don"t ask me to help!!stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-62628576236669015802008-04-25T12:45:00.001-07:002008-04-25T13:54:20.386-07:00Thing 19I listened to a CBC Comedy Factory podcast called "Could You Repeat That?" from April 10, 2008. I found it amusing and entertaining. I found the Podcast.com the easiest site to navigate. I got a bit lost at Yahoo. After my fiasco with Thing 18 I have no interest whatsoever in creating or trying podcasting. O.K., well MAYBE with a LOT of help and some really knowlegeable partners.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-75058016594740637672008-04-22T12:01:00.001-07:002008-04-28T07:07:38.901-07:00Thing 18You Tube was quite interesting to view, although I would not be interested in putting my stuff out there. I did enjoy several videos, but encountered LOTS of problems trying to upload them to my blog. I kept getting a message that the "tag was broken." I have no idea what this means and frankly I can not spend any more time trying to figure this out. After 4 hours of trying I still have had no success. I thought I had it once, but got this message: PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED (no kidding!) I also got a blog ID and a video ID. Sorry, but I am through with thing 18!stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-78212626146726223662008-04-22T10:59:00.000-07:002008-04-22T11:01:42.583-07:00Thing 17Already I am in trouble. I don't understand ANY of the directions, so I will return to this post after I can consult with someone who knows more than I do.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-73514513359337538092008-04-21T13:18:00.000-07:002008-04-21T13:30:05.325-07:00Thing 16I found a lot of very useful and interesting tools in Thing Sixteen. Where were these tools many MANY years ago when I was doing research projects? Back in "my day" using calculators was considered cheating and computers were not available. I can understand students (and teachers) finding these tools very useful.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-27215985493095567742008-04-21T12:36:00.000-07:002008-04-21T13:08:01.078-07:00Thing 15Thing Fifteen was another challenge for this tired blogger. I was unable to successfully download the pirate game on my work computer. I'm not a computer game player to begin with, so I was not disappointed. Personally, I find computer games to be a total waste of time. I watched the video of Second Life and could only think: What's the use of this???stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-59005062949515072682008-04-21T12:25:00.001-07:002008-04-21T13:09:35.207-07:00Thing 14Thing Fourteen: All about Library Thing. I set up my account and easily added five books to my list. An added bonus was that I found several new books by some of my favorite authors that I was not aware were coming out. Now I will be on the lookout for them. I could see the library using this tool to compile lists of patrons favorite books. Now we print out "suggested reading" lists for children of various ages. This would be a way to gather some patron input.http://www.librarything.com/catalog/rklevastickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-66735008721873279662008-04-21T09:11:00.001-07:002008-04-21T09:43:12.265-07:00Thing 13Thing 13: I chose to use the yahoo page, mostly (to be honest) because I could manage it without signing up for another service. I still feel rather uncomfortable having my name ane e-mail adress all over the web. I suppose it will be my permanent home page in as much as I HAVE a home page. I find the new lay out I chose to be easier to use than previously. As for on-line calendars, I find them cumbersome and rather unhandy; probably because I have limited computer acess. I'm an "old dog" when it comes to using paper and pencil to make to-do lists and can not forsee myself changing at this late date.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-4689861437055123792008-04-18T13:33:00.000-07:002008-04-18T13:38:16.169-07:00Thing 12Very interesting, this twelfth Thing. I'm not sure how I woould be using these tools at work. I can see using them to browse the news or check some for comic relief, but I think in my case these websites would definitely detract from my productivity at work. I think they are still a valuable tool for assessing public opinion and determining the public mind-set.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-71172277292780584352008-04-18T13:00:00.001-07:002008-04-18T13:17:55.847-07:00Thing 11Thing 11. Exploring Del.icio.us was very interesting. I went back and tagged my posts. There was much interesting informantion in the video, and I can understand where tags can help in researching and referencing.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-25219086131952667152008-04-17T18:23:00.001-07:002008-04-18T13:00:13.376-07:00Thing 10Thing Ten..... This "thing" was a bit more familiar to me as we have a staff Wiki that I am used to navigating. I can see where this is very helpful and useful. I played around in the Wiki sandbox to get a feel for editing and adding items. As for banning Wikipedia, I can understand the necessity if items are being changed and altered in context.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-23169580819771209952008-04-17T17:43:00.000-07:002008-04-18T12:59:44.167-07:00Thing 9Thing nine put the fun back in 23 things. I found Google Docs easier to use. I also really enjoyed the editing done to the founding fathers document. All they needed was a bunch of librarians to help them. Bet they are rolling around in their respective graves about now.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-22505913849299759792008-04-15T13:48:00.000-07:002008-04-18T12:59:11.078-07:00Thing 8PictureTrail - Online Photo Sharing, Personal Homepages, Slideshows, Image Hosting I hope this is a link to my "slide show." At this point I am not sure what is where . This post has been an exercise in frustration for me. I can understand where it should have been fun, but I got stuck in the "mosaic maker" and could not get past setting the border and background colors. After six tries I gave up and signed up for yet another account and got this far with a slideshow. I'm sure it should have come out better than this, but at this point I'm willing to settle for this. If I had to do this sort of thing for a living I would have to have LOTS of training or find another job. I will certainly never qualify for a member of the Geek Squad!stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-2296290191863096082008-03-22T11:47:00.000-07:002008-04-18T12:58:13.695-07:00Thing 7Lots of reading and listening involved in thing 7. I am getting used to communicating via e-mail at hte library rather than by memo. I still find myself jotting notes from e-mails as reminders rather than sending myself a "reminder note". I am amazed at the speed at which most people are able to text message. It takes me for---ever just to enter a new contact number into my cell phone. Maybe if I could find the backspace button??? I have attended a few webinars as training sessions. As an attendee they went very well. As a presentor I would have LOTS to learn.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-25220967252560119802008-03-17T12:59:00.000-07:002008-04-18T12:57:10.174-07:00Thing 6 Again this would have been a bit more fun if I had used something more appropriate than a picture of water lillies, but as I have mentioned before, I am using what is available to me.

stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-14105543669100084472008-03-17T12:39:00.000-07:002008-04-18T12:54:58.090-07:00Thing 5 This is a Bead art picture that I created at the
big Huge Labs Flickr site. It was a beautiful summery day. We rested on some sun-warmed rocks and drank blueberry juice. None of the pictures I took caputred the beauty of the area nearly as well as this one.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/planetpixel/50186957/
stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-51128982697117601472008-02-19T11:23:00.000-08:002008-04-25T13:59:18.057-07:00Thing 3I have accomplished thing 3. It was not as difficult as Thing 1 and Thing2. I can not visualize myself using such a tool. As I am very "old school" and prefer to get my news from the newspaper and television, this is a novel program and I can see how many will be excited at the idea. None-the-less, it seems much more work to me than sitting down with the newspaper at my convenience.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-28587042403923656112008-02-15T12:44:00.000-08:002008-04-25T13:57:19.751-07:00Thing 2First of all, I am probably the most technically challenged librarian around. I needed tech support just to finish Thing 1. I have no computer acess at home, nor do I intend to in the near future, yet I see a need to learn more about the internet and services in order to meet patron needs. I'm not certain I fully understand the parameters of Library 2.0. It appears to me to be a very vague concept: not completely defined. On the other side, I hope never to see a parent and child interfacing with a computer rather than snuggling on the couch sharing the joys of a picture book. Hopefully there is still a place for both scenarios
.stickithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01288666143687889091noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3271619650270901677.post-8160458802715189442008-02-04T12:46:00.000-08:002008-04-25T13:55:43.700-07:00Thing 1 1/2Currently working on Thing 2. My avitar has been exported somewhere other than my blog: possibly Bolivia or outer-cyber-space. I'm still working on getting it where it belongs.
